IT Tutorials

Problem

A send connector is basically what a routing group connect was in exchange 2003. The send connector enables you to setup a connection/route email within and outside your network. You can setup and internal connector for users who only need to send internally, and external and a custom connector to manage both internal and external connections. Here is how to set up a send connector

Follow this step by step guide to learn how to do so.

Resolution

To do this follow these instructions.

First Launch the Exchange 2010 Management console.

Once in select Organization level and then Hub Transport.

Then on the right hand side select “Send Connectors”, Right click and select create new send connector. You will see this screen

Enter the name for your send connector and click next

We then need to enter the address space. This is basically where you would like to send email to.

As we are going to send to the internet ( all domains ) we are going to set the address space to “*”, If you want to limit the send connector to a particular domain then you would enter that here also.

So select SMTP and enter the value as “*”

If you use a smart host, then this is where you enter it, I do not however so continue on.

Select next and this will create the connector. If you have been successful you will get this screen.

The connector is now complete.
