Mcafee Quarantine Manager SQL Login Prompt

AAAAAAAAAAGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Two days! Two flipping days!..

I have been designing a Mcafee Quarantine Manager solution to manage a clients spam solution over X many Microsoft Exchange 2013 servers onto a Server 2012 member server. When you install Mcafee Quarantine Manager you also need to install MySQL for McAfee Quarantine Manager to actually store the configuration.

The installation goes great, you then need to configure the database for your install, if you read the installation manual it states:

You can also configure your database by clicking Configure Database from the administrator log on page. You may be prompted to type your administrator credentials to access the DB Management page.

Its not kidding either, no matter what password, be it local admin, domain admin or anything I could not get the thing to authenticate me to the database administration application. The problem..?

Disable UAC on Server 2012

Thanks Microsoft and Mcafee for those 2 days I will not get back, to resolve this issue we need to disable UAC in server 2012.

  1. Regedit
  2. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\system
  3. Set from 1 to 0
  4. Reboot

Then when you run the DB management utility you will see the following screen.
