Microsoft Office is slow opening files

Problem

When you go into an application in microsoft office and try to open a file it will sit for a few minutes or so then eventually allow you to select the file you want

This is an issue with old documents in your history not being available any more, we need to clear this down.

Resolution

To fix this do the following.

1. Open your registry by going to start “Run” and entering “regedit” and then pressing return. Then find the key below.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\
Explorer

Value Name: NoRecentDocsHistory

Data Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value)
Value Data: (0 = disable restriction, 1 = enable restriction)

you can also resolve this by deleteing the following.

\Documents and Settings\”user_name”\Application Data\Microsoft\Office\Recent
